Daily Post

HONG KONG - We spent the final day of our trip both sad and a little excited. Everyone knew we we're heading home in just a few short hours. More than one in our group said it seemed like a month ago we were in Beijing, and now, we're packing for home.

During our last day, we visited the former British barracks, walked to the Star Ferry terminal and on foot, toured one of the most famous harbors in the world. Along the way we saw the Avenue of the Stars and then spent the late afternoon bargaining and shopping in a public market. In almost seems fitting that I haven't mentioned the weather. Somehow, we've become accustomed to travelling and walking through the ever present heat and humidity in this part of the world.

We enjoyed one last traditional dinner and then rode the tramway to the top of Victoria's Peak. The sights of the city and surrounding area at night is hard to describe. It's a canyon of colors and shapes that often resemble building blocks that have been neatly and logically place in proximity to on another for aesthetic purposes.

Using one of the local trolley cars, we finally made our way back to the hotel and attempted to pack both our belongings and memories for our long ride home.

Thanks for sharing our trip - we'll see you soon.

  1. Wishing you all a safe and exciting trip. Remember, as I told Tyler, food is at the heart of every cultural experience, so be daring and be sure to post lots of yummy food photography for your teacher back home who is hungry for travel, but grounded by goats!
Looking forward to your posts while gone and stories when you return.

  2. Great pictures! I love seeing all that Mary's Walk green on the Great Wall. One question though - why was Mr. Arenstam drinking espresso when everyone else was shopping? Should he not have been shopping as well (for you know who!)?

  3. Can't wait to hear all about this trip from Amanda and Justin! You guys are covering a lot of ground. Nice photos Mr. A. Maybe you should pick up some masks, the air quality does look a bit "thick".
    Enjoy the next big city.
